This guide features 24 best managment practices (BMPs) designed to increase farm productiviy, reduce soil erosion and protect water quality in the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. It explains hoe each BMP works and how it helps improve a farm, lists items to think about when considering a practice, gives some information on USDA Natural ResourcesConservation Service (NRCS) technical standards and discussesmaintenance needs.
Each practice will work most effectively in combintation with others as part of a farm plan.
Six symbols are used throughout this guide to show the benefits of each practice featured.
